Y.T.D.O TOUR was established by two friends, Shri R.C Sah and Shri V.M.S Khati. Both are keen hikers and avid travelers having hiked all over the Kumaon and Garhwal Himalayas and hitch- hiked through Afghanistan, Middle East and Europe in their youth. Presently both of them run two different tourist agencies at Nainital under the Y.T.D.O TOUR logo.

Y.T.D.O. stands for Youth Tourism Development Organisation.

Y.T.D.O TOUR run by Shri VMS Khati thought of constructing Hotel Monal at a secluded place when he realized that Nainital had become crowded and tourists and nature lovers who were looking for peace and tranquility did not have any viable options available in the close vicinity of Nainital. Resorts/ hotels at Pangot were charging exorbitant rates from the tourists by designating Pangot to be a bird sanctuary.

While it is true that the place is a haven for birdwatchers it is also true that the location and natural surroundings of Pangot village have their own charm and beauty that gladdens the hearts of all visitors to this little piece of heaven on earth.

The motto of Y.T.D.O. TOUR has always been to encourage and support tourism into the rural areas of the Himalayas, with the aim of opening up the beauty of these places to the traveller and at the same time providing employment opportunities to the rural hill folks; and thereby boosting the local economy. Hotel Monal at Pangot is a small step in that direction.

Pangot is close to Nainital and yet retains its rural charm and beauty. It has the potential of being developed as a new destination for the discerning tourist. We look forward to your patronage to help realize this dream.
